We understand that God gives according to our ability to give, and burdens us where He desires we should plant financial or supportive seeds. If you receive a gift, such as a book, in return for your donation, you can only tax-deduct the amount of the book you paid for that was above the fair-market value. For example, if you made a $50 donation for a book that actually costs $16.99 on the market, you can make a tax deducttion of $33.01.
