Spirit of Life Recovery emerged as a ministry need amongst a variety of resources and services already offered in the area of Christian Recovery. Dr. Robert Tucker had been (and is currently) operating New Life Spirit Recovery treatment facility as well as administering an Institute (ACADC) that state-certifies drug and alcohol counselors. Prior to that, Robert ran several sober living operations in Orange County, and co-pastored a church that reached alcoholics and drug addicts through the 12 steps. Through those experiences and the exposure he has had to the rampant needs for Christ-centered recovery solutions, God continued to burden Robert to move in the development of Spirit of Life Recovery.
The vision and purpose of Spirit of Life Recovery in its truest sense is a spiritual emergency room. This is a place where people either come to get healed or get equipped to go minister to the hurts and pains of others. It is a compassionate ministry that recognizes the challenges our society faces, yet doesn't in any sense of the word water down the truth. We teach and reveal the horrific reality of sin, the devastating ways we can be caught in strongholds (lies that become our truths) and the reality of the spiritual realm. But we counter that with the message of hope, redemption, God's resources and the unfailing love and protection of our Lord.
Over the years, the vision changed from just meeting the needs of the struggling addict/alcoholic, to being able to assist and support the entire family system and those with a variety of emotional and spiritual needs. Seeing the pain, heartbreak and brokenness that tears down relationships and homes, Spirit of Life Recovery offers a safe haven where broken pieces can be restored - both as individual and a family unit.
